Ben Rector- “Note To Self” Guitar Chords
Note the Dsus4: From the D chord simply hammer your pinky onto the high e string 3rd fret then remove it going back to the D, then hammer again, then remove and so forth. That pattern is noted throughout the song where I have 'D....' It just means to do the hammer :) STANDARD TUNING w/ CAPO ON 1 (*= one strum) Intro- (see note above) D Dsus4 D Dsus4... Hi, nice job. I think you’ll find that playing the song with your Capo on the 3rd fret will make it sound more like the recording. The C to Csus4 progression is sounded on the D string, rather than the high E string.
Here’s how I’m playing it — with chords inline so they show up in the right places —
Note to [C]self, clean the living room [F]. Do the things you don’t [C]wanna do
Maybe [Am]. fold that [G]week old pile of [F]clothes
…
Note to [Am]self, don’t let yourself [F]worry quite as [C]much
It’ll [F]end up fine e[C]nough, it always [G]has up [Am]until [C/B]now
…
This is the [Dm]first note that you [Em]wrote for someone [F]else, note to [C]self
…
[Em]. I don’t know how long I [Am]have to keep reminding myself
[C]. To be who I wanna [G]be and not somebody else
[Em]. Just thought by now I’d figure [Am]out the who and how I wanna [Dm]be [F]
Thank you for critiquing a tab of mine! No one ever does and I get chords wrong all the time, lol! For this, I’m gonna keep it capo on one, but I did fix the incorrect progression I had in the chorus and another spot where I had the wrong chord. If you use- http://www.chordchanger.com/ you can copy this and paste it there and transpose away to whatever capo fits you :)
