Taylor Swift “Love Story” Guitar Chords

Taylor Swift “Love Story” Guitar Chords

This is the song that led to all of this! Way back,  I had heard it here and there for a few months when it had first come out and then I just really fell in love with it. I came across the opportunity to mess around with a guitar and decided: I’M GOING TO LEARN TO PLAY  “LOVE STORY’!  I went to YouTube and found a tutorial for the song and the rest is history:)  It took me weeks before I could transition between chords and kinda sorta play the song.  I could never get the strumming down on songs and always would ask contributors “Whats the strumming pattern??”  It all just came together after long days/weeks/months, sore fingers and my families tired ears of hearing me practicing and practicing before it had all just clicked :)  I’ve never looked back!   I’ve decided to tab this because the version I use, which in general does have the right chords, still has missing chords, misplaced chords and terribly wrong lyrics throughout, so I did my own :)

Intro-

   C G Am F

C
We were both young when I first saw you
  F
I close my eyes and the flashback starts
             Am F
I'm standing there on a balcony in summer air

C
See the lights, See the party, the ball gowns
F
See you make your way through the crowd
         Am
You say "Hello"
           G
Little did I know...

     F G
That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles
       Am C
And my daddy said "Stay away from Juliet"
          F
And I was crying on the staircase
G Am F
Begging you "Please don't go"
    G
And I said...

C
Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
 G
I'll be waiting all that's left to do is run
Am Am* Am/D* [xx0210]
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
F G G*/mute C
It's a love story, baby just say: "Yes"

C
So I sneak out to the garden to see you
F
We keep quiet cause we're dead if they knew
              Am G
So close your eyes, escape this town for a little while, oh oh

       F G
'Cause you were Romeo I was a scarlet letter
       Am C
And my daddy said "Stay away from Juliet"
             F
But you were everything to me
          G Am F
And I was begging you "Please don't go"
    G
And I said...

C
Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
G
I'll be waiting; all that's left to do is run
Am Am* Am/D* [xx0210]
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
F G
It's a love story, baby just say "Yes"

C
Romeo save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel
G
This love is difficult, but its real
Am Am* Am/D*
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess
F G
It's a love story, baby just say "Yes"

C G Am F G
  Oh Oh

               Am* F* C* G*
I got tired of waiting, wondering if you were ever coming around
                   Am* F*
My faith in you was fading
       C* G*
Then I met you on the outskirts of town and I said...

(palm mute)
C
Romeo save me, I've been feeling so alone
G
I keep waiting for you but you never come
   Am
Is this in my head? I don't know what to think
   F G G*/mute
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said:

D
Marry me Juliet you'll never have to be alone
A
I love you, and that's all I really know
  Bm A*
I talked to your dad- go pick out a white dress
G A D
It's a love story, baby just say "Yes"

        A
Oh, oh, oh
        Bm
oh, oh, oh, oh
       G D*
'Cause we were very young when I first saw you

About LLG♥

Hello there! I’m a wife, mother and self-taught guitarist.   I first picked up a guitar in 2010 and haven’t put it down since! I’m not that great of a player, but I get by.  Besides, my talent isn’t in the playing, it’s in the ears ;)

I first discovered I had an ear for transcribing music while playing tabs on Ultimate Guitar.  So many of them were just wrong!   I started making correct versions and it just grew from there.   I left UG having tabbed over 300 songs on that site.  (I was the #1 Daily Most Popular Contributor for over 2 years straight, now I’m down to #7.  Not bad since I haven’t posted a tab on UG in many years!)

In 2013 I created Live Love Guitar and amazingly enough, I’m still here! I’m just a little site but I think users know they can count on correct, well formatted tabs.  I try to make my tabs as easy as possible while still being correct.  This makes a huge difference for new players!  I would have quit playing had I not learned the beauty of a capo and transposing :)  My capo is my best friend!!  (If you don’t have a capo, you must get one!  It makes the world of difference for beginners! Go now!  Then come back to Live Love Guitar and play away!)

Thanks for visiting and I hope I can keep up with all the song requests being submitted, keeping Live Love Guitar alive!  :)

    1. This song happens to be very simple/easy strumming so I’m able to do a pattern (it’s below in ‘fragilistic’s” comment) but on more difficult songs it really hard for me to put on paper what I’m actually doing! I think this is where lessons would have come in handy ;) So that’s why I don’t add strumming patterns on every song. I just try to help out with strumming when it’s specifically asked for :)

    1. Hi, I strum it like this- dddudu dddudu…. I think that’s through the entire song (other than the noted *one strums.) Play along with the music and follow the beat. Hope that helps :)
